Design Engineer
We are looking for a motivated and versatile Mechanical Design Engineer to join our design team. Our current program scope involves the design and test of large scale compressed air energy storage machine prototypes for product development and refinement in a fast track environment. The responsibilities below define the current need in a dynamic company with lots of room for future career growth.
Responsibilities
• Creation of 3D models and 2D detail drawings of components for use in prototype machines
• Design of test rig hardware and assembly tooling
• Selection of materials and manufacturing processes
• Perform basic engineering calculations to support design decisions
• Source and interface with vendors as necessary to facilitate procurement and manufacture
• Support build and test of prototype machines
• Review of parts after use to guide design goals for improved component durability
• Development of design and manufacturing strategies for component cost reduction
Requirements
• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum 5 years of experience with mechanical component design especially engines, air compressors, gearboxes, high pressure flow systems
• 2D and 3D CAD Proficiency (Solidworks preferred)
• Experience with design of billet machined and cast components
• Experience and understanding of materials selection and treatment
• Ability to interpret and apply appropriate GD&T
• Strong understanding of crank-slider mechanisms, gearing, valvetrain dynamics, rotordynamics and high pressure internal flow systems desirable
• Good interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with a small, dynamic team responsible for product development
